Radiology

The Department of Radiology at UMC Victoria Hospital provides a full range of radiological diagnostic services like Digital X-Ray, Ultrasound, ECG, Echocardiography, EEG, CT Scan and MRI Scan. The hospital is equipped with state-of-art technologically advanced medical equipment to ensure the best diagnostic output for our patients. The department is manned by highly skilled technicians and radiologists, dedicated to providing round-the-clock services to our patients.

The key diagnostic services being provided at the Radiology Department include:

  • Digital X-Ray – X-Rays produce images of key organs like lungs, heart, bones and assist in diagnosing conditions like fractures, displaced bones, breathing disorders and injuries leading to fluid collection (blood or effusions).

  • Ultrasound – Ultrasounds use high-frequency sound waves to produce images of the underlying structures and provide vital information for diagnostic, prognostic and therapeutic procedures. Ultrasounds also form a vital investigative tool for pregnancy related medical conditions for the mother and congenital conditions for the child.

  • Echocardiography – An echocardiogram uses sound waves to produce images of the heart. This test allows the doctor to assess the functions performed by the heart by evaluating its pumping activity. In case of any damage to the heart muscles or valves, the doctor can plan the necessary further investigative modality or intervention for the patient.

  • CT Scan – Computerized Tomography (CT Scan) combines a series of X-ray views taken from many different angles and computer processing to create cross-sectional images of the bones and soft tissues inside the body. CT Scan has immense application in accident patients, trauma injuries and detection of underlying bone and spine disorders.

  • MRI Scan – Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) is a technique that uses a magnetic field and radio waves to create detailed images of the organs and tissues within the body. MRI Scan has immense application in patients having soft tissue growths and tumors.
