Orthopedic Surgery is the branch of surgery concerned with conditions involving the musculoskeletal system. It involves treatment of conditions ranging from minor dislocations and fracture bones to cases of trauma and multiple bone injuries along with sports injuries, joint replacement surgeries and bone conditions associated with congenital defects as well as wear and tear seen in old age.

An evaluation with an orthopedic surgeon consists of several components:

  • Medical History – The orthopedic surgeon will gather information about general health, extent of pain & ability to function

  • Physical Examination – This will assess the various movements, stability, strength and overall clinical condition

  • Radiology Investigations – These will help assess the extent of damage and / or deformity of the underlying bone

  • Other Investigations – Blood Tests & some additional investigations that may be required to determine the modality of management required
