Ophthalmology

The Department of Ophthalmology is proficient in treating all kinds of eye-related complications – from regular eye examination to conditions like cataract, glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy. The Ophthalmologists are fully equipped with advanced diagnostic techniques and equipment for adult and pediatric ophthalmic diseases and disorders.

The department covers patients’ preventive and primary healthcare needs. Procedures like eye ultrasound, glaucoma diagnostic surgery, lasers, squint surgery, retina and vitreous diagnostics are performed with utmost precision.

Medical Conditions and Treatment:

  • Cataract – Cataract surgery comprises of removing the opaque lens and replacing it with a clear artificial lens. It is positioned in the same place as the natural one and becomes a permanent part of the eye.
     

  • Diabetic Retinopathy – It usually requires treatment when it reaches an advanced stage and mostly offered if symptoms are caused by diabetic maculopathy. It is corrected with laser or surgery.
     

  • Squint – Surgery to correct a squint is suggested if any other treatment isn’t found suitable. The surgery involves moving the muscles that control eye movement so that the eyes line up better.
     

  • Glaucoma – It can be treated with medications or a laser surgery. The aim of the treatment is to prevent loss of vision, as the vision loss from glaucoma is irreversible.
