Endocrinology is the medical specialty that deals with the diagnostic evaluation of a variety of symptoms and the long-term management of deficiency/increase in hormones. Most of the endocrine disorders are chronic ailments that require life-long treatment. Diabetes mellitus, hypothyroidism and metabolic syndrome are some of the chronic diseases that need understanding the patient at the personal, social and molecular levels. Endocrinology focuses on endocrine organs like thyroid, pancreas, ovaries that can cause hormonal imbalances. A proper chemical balance is required in the body for the glands and hormones to function normally; their dysfunction may lead to severe diseases.
Type II Diabetes being one of the major causes of premature death across the world goes unnoticed most of the time and is detected only after difficulties arise. In the absence of timely diagnosis and inadequate treatment, diabetes can increase exponentially.
